corporate/transient - full service - The Hotel was constructed in 1871 and was remodeled in 2014. set in the beautiful dovedale valley, the izaak walton is a 17th-century hotel with spectacular views across the derbyshire countryside, known for its fishing streams. A log fire and wooden beamed ceilings feature in the hotel lounge. A seating area, tea and coffee facilities and a tv feature in all rooms at the izaak walton hotel. Each private bathroom includes a selection of toiletries and a hairdryer. The haddon restaurant offers fine dining and views over thorpe cloud hill and dovedale. You can go fishing in one of the finest trout streams, the river dove, which is just 200 metres away and was made famous in the complete angler Scenic walks are possible in the surrounding peak district countryside. The historic market town of ashbourne is a 10-minute drive away and alton towers theme park is 20 minutes drive from the hotel. Haddon hall and the historic chatsworth house and derby are a 25-minute drive away. The hotel owns the fishing rights on the staffordshire bank of the beautiful river dove. The fishery extends from the imposing ilam rock 3 miles downstream to the junction with the river manifold on the right bank. The more wooded staffordshire bank provides perfect solitude away from the many visitors and tourists who enjoy walking the derbyshire bank. The well-oxygenated limestone waters ensure a good food supply of a wide variety of invertebrate species which in turn ensures a healthy population of fish. Target species are the wild brown trout and grayling neither of which is easily deceived in the crystal clear water. The resulting fishing is both challenging and rewarding to wet fly, dry fly and nymph.
