the severnaya hotel is one of those buildings that identify the face of the city in accordance with the project of protection of historical and cultural zones in petrozavodsk the building of the severnaya hotel is included in the list of valuable historical architectural constructions in the city. The hotel is located in the downtown and has convenient transport connection with all the parts of the city. The history of the hotel is tightly connected with the history of the city itself. In the beginning of the 20th century the city had only furnished rooms and it did not possess any hotel as it was written by the danish writer martin andersen nekse who visited petrozavodsk in 1933. In 1930 the perspective building plan determined the place for a 182-room hotel on the crossroad of the lenin and the engels streets the place where now the severnaya is located. From that day the hotel was determined to become one of the sightseeing of petrozavodsk. The author of the project was the architect jury rusanov. The process of construction of the hotel began in 1934 and on 1st march 1939 the severnaya hotel started to work. More than half a century the hotel severnaya is decoration of our city and its card. The hotel complex severnaya is included in the russian hotel association. And more than that in 2004 it has won the program of 100 best products in russia and it has gained the sign of quality in nomination hotel service. The hotel is still regarded as the leading cultural and tourist center of the city that constantly improves its inner and outward appearance. It is constantly working at the level of the service.
