Description
A sweeping drive leads you to this impressive 17th century mansion set in 63 acres of lush Hampshire parkland. With an incredible mile long avenue of lime trees dominating the view from the hotels gourmet restaurant, Lainston House Hotel is a welcome antidote to city life. All of the 50 rooms and suites are individually styled and designed so that no two are the same, while a pillow menu and calming lavender balm ensures that you get a good nights sleep. Expect other special touches from complimentary goodie bags if you intend going out for the day to indulgent picnic hampers. This is the place to fly fish for brown trout. On request, the hotel will happily arrange your own personal chef to set up a barbecue by the river, so you can enjoy your catch to the full. Overlooking the mile long boulevard of majestic lime trees, the Avenue Restaurant 3 AA Rosettes is one of the most spectacular settings in the UK for dining. And as summer seems to be upon us visitors to Lainston can dine under sunny skies and balmy nights on the alfresco terrace. But thats not all as well as hand rearing their own pigs, Lainston House has also developed its own kitchen garden which provides many herbs, fruit and produce to the brigade of chefs. The Kitchen Garden is also home to Lainstons collection of birds of prey which are cared for by the hotels resident falconer, former Hampshire Country Cricketer Billy Taylor. If you combine the tennis courts, croquet lawn, bicycles, and the beautiful outdoor garden pavilion for private dining and stunning outdoor wedding ceremonies, with the situation close to the best fly fishing in the World, a few minutes from the historic city of Winchester, just 30 minutes from Southampton Cruise Terminal and a short drive to the New Forest, Lainston really is the perfect country escape.Directions
