from palermo - agrigento - siracusa via catania - arrive in catania from any of sicilys other cities via the a19 palermo-catania motorway or the strada statale 114 siracusa/ragusa. Keep driving until you reach the tangenziale di catania. Follow signs for the tangenziale west and the a18 messina. Follow the a18 catania-messina motorway for approximately 40km. Take the taormina exit and follow the signs for taormina. Nearing the city centre - after having passed the large lumbi car park the road will become even steeper. At the end of the climb you will see a stone arch - the entrance to taorminas main street - corso umberto - where all traffic is prohibited. Turn right towards a small steep slope at the end of which you must turn left. This will lead you along a building on your left to where the road - via timeo is blocked by a barrier with a -transit prohibited- sign on it. As a guest of belmond grand hotel timeo you may ignore the sign and proceed on to via timeo. At the end of the street - after you cross corso umberto you will find yourself in front of 2 small streets. Take the left one - with the direction marked by a brown street sign towards the teatro greco. At the end of the slope you will find both the greek theatre and belmond grand hotel timeo. - from messina - take the a18 messina-catania motorway in the direction of catania.
